Kimble's TCSJ Experience
Session #1
Today in class we had a lot of good discussion on what school is for. With my partner we discussed that school is a place for young minds to grow. It is made to spread knowledge and build skills for kids to be prepared for the future. Why they are doing that they also have fun and they build relationships. In my group we discussed the big picture of what school is for. This was the capitalist approach where students are in school to help build for the middle class working american. They are being prepared to be on time, be respectful and get work done. Session #2
Are there things that all students need to learn? How does the history of education contribute to the current challenges related to post-secondary success for all students? I believe there are things that all students need to learn. I think this goes with the conversation we talked about in class today as well as session #1. The reason for school big picture is for a capitalist America and we want the youth to learn how to be prepared how to work. All these qualities I think is what all students need to learn which are basic skills. I will use the examples of being respectful and getting things done on time as two examples from that. Every student is capable of learning to be respectful even if it takes time, I think this is a huge aspect of life. People who can be respectful are quality humans and can work anywhere. |
